Elsewhere my love

October 22, 2026
I send you my love On an uncertain morning Mirroring our times The browned to perfection toast fell With the buttered side down The bread knife slipped Cutting into the silence of the room Crumbs scattered I scurried to pick up As if fixed cities Had shifted from the globe I send you love Without sense of direction The day continues to overwhelm The phone screen lights up A desolate night Of a dark world Momentarily reminding me Of the unread messages I send you my love Without promise of answer Should your message be lost In the din of the irrelevant Love me my love In a time without birdsong
