Into the Old Growth
June 6, 2026
Slip inside the ancient forest
Where giants kiss the sky.
Feel the friendly ferns as you flit by,
While all about birds sing and fly.
Breathe in the air so clean and fresh,
Letting the rich aromas tantalize.
With the wind to energize,
Your mind and spirit will truly rise.
Upon each step along your journey
Give thanks to the gentle ground.
Fallen leaves of centuries abound,
Serving to cushion every sound.
Take a moment to be still,
To soak in with all your senses.
Embrace the sublime without pretenses
As there’s no need for your defenses.
Cleanse your body and your soul
In the crystal water of the creeks.
As it babbles over pebbles and sneaks,
Listen to the wisdom that it speaks.
Treat this place with kindness,
With thoughtful acts of grace.
For if you leave without a trace,
These woods will keep its sacred space.

This certainly caught my imagination, and I especially liked the phrase (the whole verse in which it is included) "For if you leave without a trace/These woods will keep its sacred space." Awesome. I hope to see more!
