Kometenmelodie
October 7, 2026
This land is not built on ore, our foundation
is mosquitogestating mud, the past is gone for
good, minerals hidden beneath layers of poetic
earth, impossible to get through, like the traffic
jams on our crumbling highways; everything is
gridlocked, our thinking —look up, O Netherlands—
among the stars and planets, comets shoot by, and
the music of the spheres sings of dams and dikes.
Shooting stars. What did you say? Shooting stars.
They’re shooting stars.
