Rich Scripture
October 12, 2026
My appetite is rich and cool
and I care about country joe
and all those new folks of the late
nineteen sixties, so change
comes and I want to change
with the coming of change,
yet I’m not fit for this
kind of thing so
I grow old
in a simple
kind of hermetic fashion
toward a new principle of being—
born holy and buddhist with scriptures
that make the mark of my soul
in a pure golden eternity—
Who am I kidding?
I can’t do with progress
so I retreat into drinking
since my kind of progress
doesn’t exist and scripture
is only a transient kind of cure.
