Through a chemical haze

Through a chemical haze
Through a chemical haze, it dawned
on me that life is waking up from
an ancient dream, the Bronze Age,
I was the water that bore the keel
of more than a thousand ships and then,
much later and long ago, after a day on
the beach, salt and sand I washed from
your bare skin, no more than a cog in the
greater cosmic whole that exists solely
fort he benefit of lost souls like mine.
