Tributary Poesy for a Grieving Mother
October 12, 2026
Asleep
her dreams pain full
waves of heartbreak undulate
like ripples on a lake
created by incessant raindrops
raindrops become
a river of unremitting tears
collecting swiftly
on her pillow
as her index finger,
like a dam, moves to
hold back a straggler
she awakens
today, same as yesterday
sunrise spotlights the loss
no dream behind which
to hide from some of her pain
seas of orchestrations unheard
one seat empty
oceans of chorales unsung
one voice missing
asleep or awake
in the absence, in its silence
remain uncharted waters
of challenge and change
